Iose Epenesa, a defensive lineman ranked Top247 by Edwardsville, Illinois, has been extensively recruited by Miami over the past three years.

The 6-foot-3.5, 230-pound player was at camp with the Hurricanes in 2022, the first summer of the Mario Cristobal era, getting ready for his sophomore campaign. Along with many family members, including his older brother, defensive lineman AJ Epenesa of the Buffalo Bills, Epenesa made a comeback in January 2023.

Miami’s most recent committment was picked up about a week ago. Girard Pringle Jr., a running back at Seffner (Fla.) Armwood Top247, made the decision to end his recruitment last Saturday during a second spring visit.

With some of the nation’s best high school football players beginning to reveal their college choices, the 2025 recruiting season is becoming hotter.

Fourteen athletes in the 2025 class committed to ACC programs during the week of March 22–28. Among the group of ACC commits are two four-star recruits, the most notable of whom is a running back ranked Top247.

This week, at least one commitment was made to eight ACC institutions. Syracuse had five commitments, Wake Forest had three, and the other schools were Miami, NC State, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.

Background in recruiting: After an unofficial visit to Raleigh, 6-foot-3, 240-pound edge defender Cronk from Palm Coast (Fla.) Flagler Palm Coast committed to the Wolfpack. He turned down offers from Houston, Iowa State, South Florida, Wake Forest, and other schools. The edge rusher is the third pledge for the Wolfpack in the 2025 recruiting cycle, and his primary recruiter was Charley Wiles, the defensive line coach at NC State. According to MaxPreps, in nine games as a junior, Cronk carried the ball 16 times for 74 yards and five touchdowns on offense and racked up 75 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, 46 quarterback hurries, and one forced fumble on defense.
