The 29-year-old Spaniard, currently ranked No. 3 in the world, joined the circuit in December for a deal in the neighborhood of $500 million. During a recent interview with ESPN, Rahm said he tried texting Woods to discuss his departure.

“I mean, Tiger, I texted him and the people that try to reach out, you know, the process, when I signed and I just let him know, ‘Hey, you know, this is a personal decision,’” Rahm said. Rahm, the 2021 U.S. Open and 2023 Masters champion, is in Saudi Arabia this week for the LIV Golf Invitational Jeddah event that begins Friday.

Woods seemingly ghosted Rahm, but the captain of LIV Golf team Legion XIII said that World No. 2 Rory McIlroy responded in a positive manner. “Rory has been supportive publicly of my decision and he was privately as well,” Rahm said.

Rahm finished in a tie for third at the season-opening  and placed eighth at Las Vegas

Golf’s forgotten man Anthony Kim has once again revealed his swing to the world ahead of his LIV Golf debut this week – still donning a technique that even the great Tiger Woods had not seen before.

Kim has not played competitive golf since the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship, having gone into exile on the back of a string of fitness problems. Twelve years on though, the American will return to competition in Jeddah this Friday, making his debut on the LIV setup.

The 38-year-old gave fans a sneak preview of what they have been missing over the last decade, as well as what they can expect to see this week, after taking to the Saudi range on Tuesday morning.

In a clip shared by Andy Carter Golf on social media, Kim was seen going through his iron shot routine in practice, showcasing his synonymous technique that caught the eye of Woods after he first burst onto the scene around 15 years ago. Speaking about Kim’s technique back in 2008, Woods said: “He’s the only player I’ve ever seen that actually plays pretty much the entire bag choked up.

“It does provide a lot of control; you don’t hit the ball as far offline. You hit the ball very straight that way. It’s amazing that a lot of amateurs don’t try and do that. They like to grip the club like in baseball, with the pinky off the club because some pros have taught them that if you grip the very end of the club, you get more whip at the bottom.”

In the early stages of his career, a young Kim was compared to the 82-time PGA Tour winner after claiming three Tour events in two years between 2008 and 2010. Things however did not work out for the American though, after his following two seasons were plagued with injury issues.
