Packers have Re-signed on big Contract Extension of $50 Million with QB Jordan Love.

Although there is no denying that Jordan Love was one of the best quarterbacks in the final two games of the previous season, can the Green Bay Packers be certain that their star player is deserving of a large contract extension after just half of the season and two playoff games?

Love is under contract through 2024 on a deal that may pay him up to $22.5 million next year but guarantees him only $13.5 million, so the team has to find an answer to that conundrum this offseason, according to Spotrac.

Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report provided a succinct summary on Thursday, March 28, stating that the Packers would be better off waiting for the entire season before making any significant financial decisions on their quarterback.

While some, like Gagnon, believe Green Bay should take a wait-and-see approach with Love, the front office appears to disagree.

According to reports from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero, and Mike Garafolo in February, the Packers plan to at least take into consideration offering Love a “fair-market” contract extension at some point during the summer.

According to their source, “the Packers are expected to be willing to discuss a new, fair-market deal that pays Love like a true starter.” “June is when quarterback trades often occur, or before training camp begins, and that schedule makes sense. Love, who is still only 25 years old, is set to receive his first significant professional payout.

It’s debatable what constitutes a “fair market,” but any definition will probably come close to $50 million a year. According to Over The Cap, four quarterbacks now have yearly average value deals that pay at least that much. As new contracts become available and the NFL wage cap rises, more signal-callers who are in or nearing their prime will join that club.
