In order for Gary Rowett and his team to put their plans into practice and try to retain their Championship position for another season, Tony Mowbray’s remote influence has been “critical.” Rowett has returned to Blues on a temporary basis as Mowbray recovers from a successful surgery.

With eight games left in the season, the Blues are only one goal above the relegation zone. This Friday, they play Queens Park Rangers, a match that might be pivotal in the struggle to avoid the possibility of dropping out. Former Blues captain Paul Robinson and Dave Carolan were invited back by Rowett, who was most recently at Millwall, to work with the team and compel an improvement in performance.

He notably signed a one-month contract with Lee Clark in 2012 and went on to play for six seasons at St Andrew’s under Rowett and Mowbray at West Bromwich Albion, where the Baggies won the Championship in 2008. He disclosed that even in his absence, Mowbray continues to be a crucial voice, enabling Rowett and company to complete the task.
