The entire community is prepared to support our favorite Houston Astros enthusiastically when they play American League rivals the New York Yankees on Thursday, March 28 to begin the season. Along with season-long excitement, these neighborhood taverns and restaurants are joining in on the Astros Opening Day action, offering everything from $2 hot dogs to homerun Crush City Margaritas.

Bottle & Bayou, 1300 Lamar
Bayou & Bottle’s Opening Day will feature chef Gaby Jimenez’s “Best of Bayou Burger Menu” and riffs on ballpark favorites, like a Cracker Jack Old Fashioned, foot-long kobe beef hot dog, and banana split with bourbon caramel. The restaurant also boasts 200+ whiskies and a prime location close to Minute Maid Park. Fun is scheduled from 1 to 9 p.m.

Biggio’s

Biggio’s, which bears the name of the Astros star Craig Biggio and is located close to Minute Maid Park, is having an Opening Day feast from 3 to 9 p.m. featuring the Astros Opening Series: Biggio’s Smoker Specials. In addition to serving pregame cocktails and providing ideal viewing on its more than thirty screens for those who aren’t going to the ballpark, the sports bar will be smoking brats and hot dogs on its terrace.

Fans can visit the EaDo hotspot, Chapman & Kirby, 2118 Lamar, for a Pregame Party that includes a $2 menu that includes hotdogs, pretzel bits, chips and queso, fried pickles and shots, as well as beer buckets. At noon, the doors open.
