Bills Sign A Deal Of $6.6 Million With S Mike Edwards He Is Resuming On The…

The two-time Super Bowl champion safety Mike Edwards has agreed to a one-year contract with the Buffalo Bills, the organization announced on Wednesday. The terms of the contract were not revealed. According to Edwards, he made the perfect professional decision by signing with the Bills. “The culture, the coaching staff, they sold me very well,” stated Edwards. “It’s friendly to safety.” Over the previous seven years, the two guys they had were fantastic. I therefore thought I could step in, assume that responsibility, and work to improve every week.”

The 27-year-old Edwards participated in all 17 regular-season games and started five for the Kansas City Chiefs, the team that won the Super Bowl the previous season. 51 stops, one sack, five passes defensed, one interception, and two fumble recoveries—one of which was recovered for a touchdown—rounded out his stats. On December 10, in a 20-17 loss to Buffalo, he recorded a season-high 11 tackles.

In his four playoff games, he started every one of them, recording 12 tackles and one interception. In the AFC Divisional Round, the Chiefs defeated the Bills 27–24, however Edwards missed a large portion of the game due to a concussion he suffered in the first quarter. While playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV, Edwards won his second championship. In the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Edwards was chosen by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Edwards had 184 tackles, two sacks, seven interceptions—three of which were returned for touchdowns—and 26 passes defensed in his four seasons with the Bucs.

Despite being a postseason mainstay, the Bills haven’t been able to overcome adversity. “You can pick up on some things that you can translate over to the next team and try to give a little insight on what it takes to win the Super Bowl,” Edwards said. “What it takes to get over the hump, what it takes to win those games week in and week out. … I have all the confidence in the world that we can do that and get to the Super Bowl and finally make it happen.”
