For the Hurricanes, Seth Jarvis is playing in a different league.

Before their matchup with the Philadelphia Flyers tonight, March 21, the Carolina Hurricanes have 13 games left. They have a 43-20-6 record, two points behind the New York Rangers (92). The Hurricanes are chasing the Rangers for their third consecutive Metro Division championship. They are coming off a 3-0-0 road trip and are on a four-game winning streak.

In just a few weeks, when the playoffs begin, one Hurricane is heating up. Although he is having a career year, he is currently merely consolidating his run at the correct time in history. In his third NHL season, Seth Jarvis is having an extraordinary breakthrough performance.

Jarvis is having the kind of season that many have been hoping for in the last year of his entry-level contract (ELC). Many were anticipating a season of resurgence after he concluded his sophomore year in 2022–2023 with 14 goals and 39 points in 82 games. Jarvis has done more in 2023–2024 than just disprove his doubters.

With 13 games remaining, he has already surpassed career highs in goals (25), assists (30), and points (55). At age 22, he is also very close to having his first 30-goal, 60-point season. With 55 points, he trails team leader Sebastian Aho (75 points) by 20 points. Aho, who has 27 goals in 66 appearances, is two goals ahead of him. It’s possible for both players

Jarvis has six goals overall, going all the way back to his goal and assist against the Calgary Flames on March 10. In the last six games, he has seven points, including a four-game goal run. In the first period of Tuesday’s (March 19) game against the New York Islanders, he scored two goals in 2:13. With those goals, the Hurricanes defeated the Islanders 4-1, maintaining his current four-game goal streak.
