Tiger Woods Name was added to the Entry list on the official Masters website but due to inconvenient Proceeding…

Tiger Woods’ name was added to the official Masters website’s registration list, indicating that he will likely compete at the tournament next month.

That will allay worries that Woods’ presence at Augusta National would be in doubt following his influenza-related withdrawal from the Genesis Invitational last month’s second round. Woods hasn’t played on the PGA Tour since.  While there was some expectation that Woods would play at The Players Championship, his absence raised questions about whether he would make a second career appearance at this week’s Valspar Championship. However, when it was announced last Friday, Woods wasn’t mentioned in the field.

The fact Woods chose to skip both those tournaments was something of a surprise because, before last year’s Hero World Challenge, the 15-time Major winner had outlined an ambitious plan to play a tournament a month in 2024, including “something in March, near The Players.”

After this week’s event at the Copperhead Course, the only other PGA Tour event in March is the Houston Open, but because he has never played there, it seems unlikely that he will make an appearance there.

Additionally, it appears that Woods will make his next start at the Masters because he has historically avoided the Valero Texas Open, which takes place the week prior.

The 48-year-old had undergone a subtalar fusion procedure on his right ankle a few days prior to his withdrawal from the 2023 tournament, so his lack of competitive action in the first few months of the year did not raise any red flags about a potential setback in his recovery. That’s in part because Woods only participated in one tournament following his withdrawal from the Riviera Country Club, the Seminole Pro-Member earlier this month.
