Vikings has reportedly signed $38.65 million with Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy…

In the run-up to the April 25 NFL draft in 2024, Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy appears to be of interest to the Minnesota Vikings.

Josh McCown and Grant Udinski, the quarterbacks coaches for Minnesota, will be in Ann Arbor on Friday for McCarthy’s pro day. The team has also scheduled a private session with the Wolverines quarterback for the following week. Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer said on Monday that general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and coach Kevin O’Connell of the Vikings will be present at that exercise.

The franchise saw Kirk Cousins depart for the Atlanta Falcons via free agency after six seasons in Minnesota, then agreed to terms with veteran Sam Darnold on a one-year deal this past week.

The Minnesota Vikings traded 24 first- and seventh-round picks to the Houston Texans on Friday in exchange for ’24 second- and fifth-round picks and a ’25 second-round pick, a move that increased rumors that the team may be planning to select a quarterback in the forthcoming draft.

McCarthy appears to be one QB the team is thinking about.

The product of La Grange Park, Illinois, finished his three seasons as a starter in Ann Arbor with a 27—1 record, completing 67.6% of his throws for 6,226 yards with 49 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions. In January, he assisted the Wolverines in winning a national championship.

McCarthy is considered by many NFL mock drafts as a possible top-10 pick.
