Red Sox Welcomes Their Former Star This…

Though Christian Arroyo is headed to the Milwaukee Brewers, he stopped along the road to say goodbye to Red Sox supporters.

Not long after word leaked out about his minor league contract with the Brewers, Boston’s former second baseman took to Instagram.

“In 2020, when I had no idea what the future held, you took me in,Arroyo wrote in the caption of his photo, “I had no idea that I would get to make so many amazing experiences with some of the best teammates and coaches a player could wish for. “I hope that by dressing in the proper uniform and always giving it my all, I made you proud.”

After being claimed off waivers by the Red Sox in 2020, Arroyo played for the team for the next four seasons. He experienced a kind of comeback and started playing second base for Boston every day. Arroyo found it challenging to maintain his health, as ailments forced him to miss more games. He never participated in more than 87 Red Sox games throughout a season.

Arroyo participated in 224 games and batted.264 with an OPS of.716.

Arroyo’s tenure with the Red Sox came to an end in August when the team decided to designate him for assignment. The team decided to let go of Arroyo even though manager Alex Cora stated at the time that he was a “good defender” and would be missed, primarily because Pablo Reyes was a more versatile player.

He agreed to a minor-league deal worth $1.5 million if he makes it to the majors, and will now get a fresh start with the Brewers. According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, it also offers incentives.

This season, the Brewers take on the Red Sox in a three-game series starting on May 24 at Fenway Park.
