Teams hoping to move their selection slot in the NFL Draft will no doubt be the subject of rumors with the event less than a month away. With so many elite quarterbacks in this year’s draft class, as the NFL Draft draws nearer, the whispers will probably start to swirl. Both the Minnesota Vikings and the Las Vegas Raiders hope to land in one of the top three draft spots, since they both have substantial needs at quarterback.

The Vikings have added veteran Sam Darnold to man the quarterback position following the departure of high-priced veteran Kirk Cousins. However, Darnold looks like a transition quarterback at this point in his career and not a player that general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O’Connell can build the team around.

The Raiders have second-year quarterback Aidan O’Connell and they also signed Gardner Minshew during free agency. Minshew had an outstanding year as the backup for the Indianapolis Colts and he could be the starting quarterback for head coach Antonio Pierce in the 2024 season.

However, while Minshew is accurate, smart and resourceful, he does not appear to be the kind of quarterback who is going to lead the team for multiple seasons

Caleb Williams of USC will most likely be chosen by the Chicago Bears as the first overall choice in the draft. The Bears obviously need a franchise quarterback as they dealt former starter Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier in the summer. In the final days and weeks leading up to the draft, there’s no reason to believe they will abandon Williams and the first pick.

The next two quarterbacks who are most likely to be selected in the draft are North Carolina’s Drake Maye and LSU’s Jayden Daniels. Either of those individuals might be chosen by the Washington Commanders, who have a great need at that position.
