Ex-Chiefs Have Sign $80.8 million contract on joining bills, adding potential…

The Chiefs, who want to win three straight Super Bowls, will attempt to run it back without safety Mike Edwards. Edwards inked a one-year contract with the AFC opponent of the Chiefs this week following his visitation with the Buffalo Bills.

When Bryan Cook injured his ankle last season, Edwards stepped up as a starter for the Chiefs and proved to be essential. Edwards racked up 51 total tackles, 1 interception, 5 passes defensed, and 2 fumble recoveries in 17 games, including five starts. In Week 18, he recovered one of the fumbles for 97 yards and a touchdown. With a total of 12 tackles, he started all four playoff games, including the Super Bowl.

After signing a new deal in Buffalo, Edwards was questioned by media about what “sold him” about the Bills. While “other teams” were still in the running, the 27-year-old also had a visit with the Indianapolis Colts, according to Joel A. Erikson of The Indy Star.

Edwards went on to say that the coaching staff had convinced him of the team’s safety record, citing the fact that the previous two starting safeties had spent seven years playing in Buffalo. The All-Pro team of Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde received a shout-out from the veteran, who described them as “phenomenal” athletes.

“Those individuals were the norm,” he remarked. Two of the league’s top safety pairings. Just attempting to expand upon that and grow from it… Enter and prepare to work.

Chris Brown of One Bills Live reports that Edwards, who played for the Chiefs and wore the No. 21 jersey, will continue to wear that number in Buffalo. Poyer wore the No. 21 jersey before he signed a contract with the Miami Dolphins. Hyde, who is still a free agent, still seems to be considering retiring.
