NY Islanders have reportedly agreed terms with George Armstrong on a $55 million deal proceeding…

With their Sunday loss to the NY Rangers, the NY Islanders’ losing run now stands at four games. Bo Horvat’s short-handed goal gave the Rangers the lead early in the first half, and they quickly added two more goals 10 minutes into the second. Horvat’s second goal of the game tied the score at two, but the Islanders’ fierce rivals scored the next three goals to take a 5-2 lead. From that point on, it was all Rangers.

With their 7-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Sunday, the Carolina Hurricanes increased their winning run to three games. Jake Guentzel scored his first goal since joining the team from the Pittsburgh Penguins, while Evgeny Kuznetsov scored his second goal since joining the team from the Washington Capitals.

After three games this season, the Isles are 2-0-1 against Carolina, with a 5-4 victory on December 23. Bo Horvat finished with two points, and Anders Lee finished with three. Despite being outshot 40–28 for the game, the Islanders managed to repel a formidable Hurricanes charge by putting 15 shots on goal in the last verse.

During the Islanders’ four-game losing streak, Mat Barzal has not played well, scoring only one point. He must be the team’s top forward and the focal point of the offense if this team is to make a last-ditch effort to qualify for the playoffs.
