Notes From the Bruins: Boston Must Be “More Mature” To Win Finals…

The Boston Bruins grabbed a commanding 5-2 lead over the Philadelphia Flyers when they scored three goals in 2:56 of the third quarter.

Surely, it was supposed to be a comfortable lead? Not with these Bruins in mind. Despite a valiant effort by the Flyers to score three goals of their own, Boston emerged victorious on Saturday night, 6-5.

Jim Montgomery, the head coach of the Bruins, characterized the game as an ordinary encounter between a club vying for a postseason berth.

According to the organization, Montgomery told reporters, “I thought (the Flyers) were very desperate in the entire game.” We improved overall in the third period, managed to take the lead, and now we need to work on finishing games strong.

It seems like a playoff game, and the other teams are desperate. We need to grow as a team and become a little bit better in order to be able to finish out those games a little bit easier. There will be momentum and emotional swings.

As part of the three-goal third-period explosion, Jake DeBrusk scored his 17th goal of the year. When DeBrusk scores at least one point, the Bruins are 23-3-1; when the forward is held without a point in a game, they are 15-11-14. For his tenth multi-point performance of the year, DeBrusk earned an assist on Morgan Geekie’s goal in the first period.
