Jurgen Klopp Fumes Over Liverpool Being Denied Late Penalty vs Man city…

Following Liverpool’s denial of a penalty in the last moments of their Sunday night match against Manchester City, manager Jurgen Klopp has taken aim at referees. Both teams had periods of dominance during the 1-1 draw, but the Reds were ahead of play in the closing minutes of the game.

Despite having few players from the first team, they really put the pressure on City and had multiple fantastic chances to win it late on. Luis Diaz had two excellent chances to advance his cause, but he was unable to take advantage of them. Even still, Jeremy Doku appeared to foul Alexis Mac Allister with a high boot inside the City box, giving the Reds yet another fantastic opportunity to win all three points.

Although the challenge appeared to be quite damning in a replay, the referee first waved away requests for a spot kick. However, VAR then chose to examine the situation and decided not to change the previous ruling. Online reactions to the no-call have been overwhelming; Liverpool player Diogo Jota has even posted about it on social media. Klopp, his manager, has now voiced his opinion.

After the game, Klopp expressed his anger over the no-call. He said that he believed it was a clear penalty when he met with referee Michael Oliver at full time. The German went on to criticize VAR’s lack of action and ask why it was implemented incorrectly. He also said that anyone who didn’t believe the challenge was a foul wasn’t a true football fan.
