At the risk of being repetitive, let me say it again: the Championship’s promotion race this season will be unforgettable. If you focus on the top of the league table, you can argue convincingly that the quality in the division is not as high as it has been in some prior years. However, that argument will fall flat.
With their formidable squad, Leicester City is a Premier League team in every sense of the word. Because of their own talent, Southampton have a team that everyone expected to be competitive, but teams like Ipswich Town, West Bromwich Albion, and even big-spending Hull City have rosters that are deserving of a shot at promotion.

Even with that caliber at the top, no one could have anticipated the promotion race that is currently playing out in front of us. If the current ratio of points per game continues, or even better, there’s a good probability that the team finishing in third place will not receive automatic promotion even though they scored well over ninety points. It’s practically unimaginable!

However, given how consistently Leeds, Leicester, and Southampton manage to win, it seems more and more likely. Georginio Rutter and Wilfied Gnonto scored twice as the Whites defeated Plymouth Argyle 2-0. The result moved the team back into second position in the standings and was the ideal reaction to Southampton’s victory at West Bromwich Albion the previous evening.

Leeds achieved this without being at their best; instead, they displayed the kind of composure both with and without the ball that is frequently required when visiting challenging locations like Home Park, which hasn’t suffered a loss since October of last year.Since the start of the season, Daniel Farke’s team has won eight straight games in the league. Over the course of an eight-game winning streak, 19 goals have been scored and only one conceded, with all challengers being dispatched, some quite easily.
