On Wednesday, the Cleveland Browns announced their latest hire, bringing in Andy Dickerson as their offensive line coach. Dickerson succeeds Bill Callahan, widely regarded as one of the best coaches in the NFL.That said, Dickerson has big shoes to fill, but he’s someone who should be up to the task. A former offensive line coach in Cleveland (in 2010), Dickerson took over the Seattle Seahawks offensive line in 2022, and PFF rated them the worst in the NFL that season. After the 2023 campaign, they moved up four places, which may not sound like much, but it’s still an improvement..Prior to his coaching career, Dickerson played offensive line at Tufts University from 1999-2002. The Jumbos are based in Medford,

Massachusetts and have only one player in the Pro Football Hall of Fame – William Grinnell. After graduation, Dickerson worked for a number of NFL teams, including the Washington, New England Patriots, St. Louis Rams and Seattle Seahawks. In 2009, he spent two years as the defensive quality control coach in Cleveland before becoming an assistant offensive line coach in 2010. He was on Eric Manginiand’s staff and served as O-line coach under Geroge Warhop..For the past two years, Dickerson has been Seattle’s O-line coach, but before that Pete Carroll hired him as the offensive coordinator. With him leading the ground game, Seattle ran for 2,

\074 yards, which was 11th in the NFL that year. More importantly, they averaged 5.0 yards per attempt, third in the league. This season, Cleveland started out strong on the field, but faded as the year progressed. Losing Nick Chubb hurt, but they couldn’t figure out how to get Jerome Ford to perform more consistently. Dickerson and#039; a background offensive line coach can help a team survive an upcoming slump.Dickerson interviewed with Browns as offensive coordinator. This isn’t the first time Dickerson has been considered for the Cleveland job this season. After moving on from Alex Van Pelt, the Browns cast a wide net, and that included interviewing Dickerson for the offensive coordinator position. In the end, the job went to Ken Dorsey, but head coach Kevin Stefans isn’t denying it.
