Along with holding a joint end-of-season press conference to discuss the quarterback position, Kirk Cousins’ status, and the status of their conversation with Justin Jefferson, Vikings Head Coach Kevin O’Connell and General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah wrapped up the 2023 season last week.
As both men begin their third season in their positions, Adofo-Mensah described the impending summer as “big” and “important” due to potential imminent free agents as well as the need to improve on a 7–10 performance. He was questioned about whether there is more pressure this year because choices made now could have an impact on the team for the following five to ten years. In the trade that sent Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills, Minnesota received a package that included the No. 22 overall pick in the 2020 draft. At that point in his career, Diggs had not accomplished as much as Jefferson had during the course of four seasons. “I would contend that each offseason, I put that strain on myself.
Regarding the circumstances, Jefferson has talked with assurance. Having put together his credentials, he is aware that he will eventually get paid.

The Vikings contacted Jefferson’s agent about a possible extension when he initially became eligible for one last season.Adofo-Mensah remarked, “I’m always optimistic about those things.” “That and a lot of other things are obviously things we need to talk about, but I’m excited for those discussions.”
