The Bulldogs picked up their fourth SEC win on Wednesday, defeating Georgia 75-62. Tolu Smith led MSU with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Josh Hubbard added 14 points and Shakeel Moore and Keshawn Murphy each scored in double figures.MSU has been solid offensively this season, averaging just over 74 points and shooting 53.4 percent from the three-point arc.

Tolu Smith and Josh Hubbard ead Mississippi State in scoring. Most of the offense runs through these two players as no other Bulldog averages double figures in scoring.Smith came on strong after missing most of the season with an injury. In eleven games, he scored at least 15 points seven times and finished with a double-double four times

.Mississippi State has one of the best defenses in the nation, allowing just over 68 points per game. MSU’s opponents are shooting 40.6 percent from the field and just 29.2 percent from three. The Bulldogs are also one of the top rebounding teams, averaging 39.5 per game. This is Missouri’s nightmare. The Tigers, already struggling to protect the rim, will face an incredibly efficient scorer in Tolu Smith. I saw him on a career night against an injured Mizzou team..I think Mississippi State gets their first road win of the season. The Tigers are pushing too hard on both ends of the field for me to pick them to win this one. Missouri will likely have to wait another week for a conference win..

Wednesday night’s loss to Texas A&M dropped Missouri (8-15) to 0-10 in the SEC, its worst start in conference play since 2016-17. The Tigers were without leading scorer Sean East II in the 79-60 loss. In East’s absence, Tamar Bates led Mizzou with 20 points and scored 17 in the second half. Nick Honor scored a season-high 19 and Noah Carter added 11 points. The rest of the team added 10 points. The injuries are starting to pile up for the Tigers. Injuries played a role until last week,

but now they have caught up with Mizzou’s offensive leader. Sean East II (15.6 ppg) is dealing with a sprained knee and is listed as day-to-day, the team announced before the game against Texas A&M.Tamar Bates (14.2 ppg) was the Tigers’ most reliable scorer in conference play, scoring 12 or more points in all 10 games. Noah Carter (12 ppg, 5.1 apg) and Nick Honor (10.7 apg) have both scored in double figures in the last two games, but will need to become more consistent scorers if Missouri hopes to get its first SEC win.Mississippi State (15-8) has looked spectacular at times in conference play, beating #5 Tennessee and #8 Auburn at home. But MSU has struggled home and away without a single win on the road this season..
