DEAL DECLINED: Caitlin Clark just declined a huge contract of 3yrs $10.170 millions given reason that…

BIG3 co-founder Ice Cube said Thursday that the league has “moved on” from its $10 million offer for Caitlin Clark to join the three-on-three basketball league.

During an appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show,” the rapper and actor shared more interesting details on the deal offered to Clark before she chose to join the WNBA.

“It was two years, $5 million a year,” he said. “And plus, we were going to do cool stuff with merch and there was even talk about a percentage in team ownership.”

Some of the social media pages sharing the claim — like SpaceX Fanclub on Facebook — also carry a similar disclaimer. “Nothing on this page is real,” that page’s description states.

In reality, Clark already previously had an endorsement deal with Nike beginning in 2022 as a college athlete, and Kaepernick has been associated with Nike since 2018. At the time of this reporting, Clark is in negotiations for a new Nike contract as a professional athlete. In April, several outlets reported that she was on track to sign an eight-year, $28 million contract with Nike. Clark and Kaepernick are common targets of satire pages like essports.com whose content is sometimes confused with real news.

It’s been a month since Caitlin Clark’s debut in the WNBA. She’s played in 14 games already, but the focus surrounding the women’s basketball phenom has been the treatment of her by other WNBA players and the media.

That has obscured one of the biggest storylines about her before she entered the league: her salary.

Clark’s initial contract—$338,000 over four years, with about $76,000 coming in her first year—spotlighted the low pay of WNBA players relative to other professional athletes. This was particularly eye-popping considering Clark had just helped drive nearly 19 million viewers to the Women’s NCAA Championship Game in April, which was over four million more than the Men’s Championship Game.
