“It was like a huge thunderstorm crash, and I was like, ‘It’s not thundering,'” said Lynette Patillo, who saw one of the wrecks happen in front of her home on Shady Grove Road. “I go outside and the cars were already separated. One was here, one was here and one was catching on fire.”

Patillo said she was not surprised that speed was a factor in the collision.

“As you see, cars just whip through here,” Patillo said.

Just down the road, Debby Freeman said drivers need to be more cautious.

“There’s a reason for double yellow lines,” Freeman said. “There’s a reason for a speed limit. There’s a reason for everything.”
