A 15-year-old mother and wife excitedly anticipated her birthday plans on Oct. 12, but as the night unfolded, she was met with devastating news.
In an emotional Facebook post, Jessica Lybrand explains how her husband, Zachary Lybrand, was driving their 16-month-old daughter to her grandma’s house when they were involved in an 12-vehicle accident on Interstate 83 after police say a tractor-trailer failed to stop. Zachary and their daughter, Elliana, were two of the three people killed in the crash, and the driver, Jack Edward
Lybrand mentions how she thought it was rather odd that Zachary didn’t check back in with her or answer any of her calls that Friday night. This was Elliana’s first time spending a night away from the stay-at-home mom. More:Should pet stores only be allowed to buy from shelters and rescue facilities?Lybrand wishes she could hold her husband and daughter one more time but because of the condition of their bodies, she is unable to.
I don’t know how to even begin to explain how badly I want to hold my babies but I can’t,” she says.
“I can’t even hold them to say goodbye…I can’t even visit where they died, instead people are driving right on top of where my babies died.”
A GoFundMe has been set up to help with financial needs and plan a funeral, which Lybrand plans to make open to the public.
