OV Overview: Two top targets, three commits expected in for Oklahoma weekend

An in-depth look at the official visitors expected in this weekend for Auburn’s home game against Oklahoma.

Auburn brought in a pair of official visitors for the New Mexico homecoming game in defensive tackle commitments Malik Autry and Jourdin Crawford, along with one last weekend for the Arkansas game in offensive line target Nelson McGuire. To cap off the homestretch, Auburn will bring in five official visitors this weekend for game No. 5 of the season.

That includes Notre Dame quarterback commit Deuce Knight, Georgia Tech wide receiver commit Sam Turner and a trio of commitments in the class, some of whom are visiting elsewhere this fall and the Tigers will have to hold on to. So where does Auburn stand? Who are the other contenders? What does Auburn need to do to make a move?

College football upset alert: Georgia-Alabama, Louisville-Notre Dame highlight potential for Week 5 shake-ups

Which college football favorites are in danger of an upset this weekend?

A pivotal weekend in college football looms, featuring key conference matchups that will begin to define the landscape of the postseason race. At the forefront is a high-stakes clash between SEC powerhouses Alabama and Georgia in Tuscaloosa, a showdown with significant implications. Meanwhile, the loser of the Kansas State and Oklahoma State game will find themselves at 0-2 in the Big 12, further complicating their championship aspirations.

There has been no shortage of shocking results already in the early stretch of this 2024 campaign and more could be on deck in Week 5 with four matchups between top-25 teams. Notre Dame likely has to win the rest of its games to have a chance at returning to the College Football Playoff, but upset-minded Louisville stands in the way looking to stun the Fighting Irish again.

As the Week 5 schedule progresses, keep an eye on games that will impact the College Football Playoff picture.

Below is a list of Week 5 college football games with upset alerts, rated from cold to hot in terms of potential and point spreads from FanDuel Sportsbook:

Upset Temperature: Warm

Why not catch a glimpse of future “Pac-12 After Dark” action? If Boise State — which recently announced it is joining the new-look conference in 2026 — wants any shot at keeping its hopes alive for a possible spot in the College Football Playoff, holding off undefeated Washington State is a must. As electric as these two programs have been in the passing game over the years, the matchup Saturday night hinges on which team can sustain success on the ground. The Broncos feature potential Doak Walker Award winner in Ashton Jeanty, while the Cougars showcase dual-threat quarterback John Mateer — who ranks third nationally in total offense per game.

OKLAHOMA STATE VS. KANSAS STATE (-5.5)

Upset Temperature: Warm

One of the preseason Big 12 title favorites will be 0-2 in conference action after Saturday. Both Kansas State and Oklahoma State find themselves in a bit of a must-win situation in order to keep up in the race for a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game. The Cowboys’ offense flat-out stinks with Ollie Gordon still unable to get things going on the ground and Alan Bowman being benched for four drives in a loss last weekend. Meanwhile, the Wildcats were stunned at BYU in Week 4. There is added pressure on both sides, and although Kansas State has not lost back-to-back games since 2021, Mike Gundy is too skilled an offensive strategist not to identify and exploit weaknesses in the Wildcats’ otherwise formidable defense.
