Steffi Graf holds the record for the highest win percentage in matches at WTA 1000 level tournaments, while Serena Williams and Iga Swiatek also feature in the top five of the list.There are currently 10 WTA 1000 tournaments on the women’s tour, with this category of tournament replacing the Premier Mandatory and Premier 5 events in 2021.

Tournaments of this level were named Tier I events from 1990 to 2008 before changing to the Premier categories in 2009.

Here, we look at the five players with the highest match win percentages at WTA 1000/Tier I tournaments from 1990 onwards (with a minimum of 50 wins).

5. Martina Hingis – 81.1%
Martina Hingis has a 189-44 record from the 233 matches she contested in WTA 1000 level tournaments, giving her a win percentage of 81.1%.

The Pan Pacific Open in Japan, a former Tier I event, was Hingis’ best tournament at this level for match victories (32), win percentage (88.9%) and titles (five).

The Swiss made her professional debut as a 14-year-old at the 1994 Zurich Open, a Tier I event, and won her debut match.

4. Justine Henin – 81.6%
Justine Henin amassed a 111-25 record from her 136 matches in WTA 1000 level events, leaving her with a win rate of 81.6%.

The Belgian’s most successful WTA 1000 event for match wins (28) and titles (three) was the German Open in Berlin, while her best win percentage of 93.3% was at the Charleston Open — a former Tier I event.

Henin won her first match at a Tier I tournament on her debut at the Canadian Open in 2000.

3. Iga Swiatek – 82.2%
Swiatek holds a 97-21 record from the 118 matches she has played at WTA 1000 tournaments in her career to date, which puts her win percentage at 82.2%.

The Italian Open is Swiatek’s best WTA 1000 event for matches won (20) and titles (three). Her best win rate from WTA 1000 tournaments she has played multiple times is the 90.9% she has in both Qatar and Rome.

The Pole played and won her first match at WTA 1000 level at the Canadian Open in 2019.

2. Serena Williams – 84%
Serena Williams compiled a 263-50 record from the 313 matches she contested at WTA 1000 level, which gives her a win rate of 84%.

The American has won more matches (76) and titles (eight) at the Miami Open than any other WTA 1000 event, while she holds an 89.4% win percentage at the tournament.

Williams made her Tier I debut at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow in 1997 and earned her first win at this level at the 1998 Miami Open.

1. Steffi Graf – 88.4%
Graf built a 130-17 record from the 147 matches she played at WTA 1000 level tournaments, giving her a win percentage of 88.4%.

The German won more matches (43) and titles (seven) at the German Open in Berlin than any other Tier I/WTA 1000 level event. Five of these titles came after the Tier I series was introduced, while the 1990 German Open was the first Tier I event Graf played.
