Chiefs Re-Sign Travis Kelce Backup
SEPT 18 TE BACK As it turns out, the Kansas City Chiefs’ goodbye to tight end Peyton Hendershot was a temporary one. They cut the Dallas Cowboys ex on Monday … but then on Tuesday afternoon’s transactions brought him back. Hendershot is re-signing to the practice squad after having cleared waivers.
Hendershot was traded for from Dallas at the end of camp. … and now re-joins a deep KC tight ends room getting ready for the Falcons on Sunday. AUG 6 ONE MORE TACO? Taco Charlton, “over-drafted” with the 28th pick back in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, keeps trying to find a way to stick.
And now Taco – who has spend some time, on and off, as a Chiefs helper, is asking for something … “Just need 1 more chance,” Taco tweeted over the weekend. Most recently, Charlton, still just 29, was with the Birmingham Stallions of the UFL, and he finished this past season with six sacks and 14 total tackles. Can all of that mean one more chance for Taco? JULY 31 WR MOVES Byron Pringle, who helped the Chiefs win a Super Bowl in 2019, is re-upping with Washington, as the Commanders made a move on Wednesday likely designed to help bolster their special teams. That is where Pringle, 30, had his role there last year, as he played in all 17 games for Washington in 2023. While in Kansas City, though, in 2021, Pringle did put up some numbers when caught 42 passes for 568 yards with five touchdowns. Pringle also earned himself a Super Bowl ring from his time with the Chiefs as part od the team in 2019. JULY 30 BOWERS BREAKOUT INCOMING? The Las Vegas Raiders selected Georgia tight end Brock Bowers with the 13th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and he could be primed for a breakout in his rookie season.
In a recent article by Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay, he lists five tight ends that could be in the best position for a breakout season. One of the players he mentions is Bowers, as he thinks he could benefit from his team’s new coaching staff. The Raiders named Antonio Pierce as their full-time head coach after the team saw improvements when he was the interim, and he will be looking to utilize Bowers and the rest of his weapons to try and compete with the Kansas City Chiefs. JULY 30 SWIFT POSTER IN SUITE The sports world was shocked to see Taylor Swift in a box in Arrowhead Stadium in the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 3 win against the Chicago Bears. She continued to come to games to support her partner, Travis Kelce.
