Ayumu Yokoyama has set his sights on the Premier League after an exciting start to his Birmingham City career. The Japanese winger hasthrilled Blues fans with his direct dribbling and unpredictability off the bench in his first five matches. Yokoyama set the tone three minutes into his debut at Wycombe Wanderers in August when he bamboozled his marker and teed up Luke Harris to score.

“I always ask Tomoki ‘what did they say?’ at a meeting when discussing tactics,” Yokoyama said in a sit-down interview with Blues TV. “I asked Koji for translation too. I can neither listen nor speak so I communicate with my body language or roughly figure out what is going on.

“I never studied English, I didn’t even understand it at school. I’m starting from minusp rather than zero!
