City’s popular Colombian striker is leaving the club

Hull City head coach Tim Walter says the Tigers are losing a ‘great human’ as Oscar Estupinan leaves the club on a permanent basis to head back across the Atlantic.

The Colombian striker was removed from the City squad that drew 0-0 with Millwall on Saturday after an agreement was struck with the Mexican Liga MX outfit FC Juárez.

City will earn a seven-figure fee for the 27-year-old who arrived two years ago on a free transfer, with his one goal this season earning the Tigers a last-minute point on the opening day against Bristol City.

“Oscar is a really brilliant human being,” Walter told Hull Live. “He’s such a good guy. And he gave me so, so much, really, because he’s so open, he learned. We are losing a really great human being and a good player, but for him, I wish him all the best.”

In Estupinan’s absence, Mason Burstow was handed a full debut having come off the bench at Plymouth last weekend and was restricted to just one chance, which he saw well-saved by goalkeeper Lukas Jensen in the first half.

Burstow joined Oscar Zambrano in making his home debut from the off against the Lions and given they’re both new arrivals and especially for the Ecudaor youngster, who has moved to a different continent, Walter explained that he was impressed with how they tackled their work so early in their Tigers careers.

“They have only been with us for a few days. They are both young, they are inexperienced and they tried to improve themselves on the pitch, and they did, so it’s good to see them, it’s good to have them and for the first minutes, I’m really happy about them.”

Leeds United sent Hull City transfer match ahead of Elland Road showdown

Leeds United could face a very different looking Hull City when the two sides go head to head on Saturday. While Daniel Farke and Co will spend this week looking to add to their squad – and keep key players at Elland Road – Saturday’s opponents are also expecting a busy few days.

It’s been a summer of change for the Tigers, and they head to Leeds this coming weekend still looking for their first win of the new season following three draws in their opening games. While United have had a busy summer – with potentially more deals to come – Hull have seen 10 new faces arrive, while big names such as Jacob Greaves, Jaden Philogene, Ozan Tufan and Jean Michael Seri have all left – while Tim Walter replaced Liam Rosenior in the hotsteat.

But any plans Farke is drawing up for Hull this weekend may have to change, with City owner Acun Ilicali hoping to bring in several more players before Friday’s deadline day. How many will arrive in time to feature against Leeds remains to be seen, but Ilicali is predicting a busy week.
