Wrexham- Given potential Bailey Cadamarteri boost as Danny Rohl drops transfer hint

Danny Rohl’s- latest Sheffield Wednesday transfer update could be good news for Wrexham.

Phil Parkinson has been backed heavily in the 2024 summer transfer window so far.

Seven new first-team players have joined the club, with the latest addition, Ollie Rathbone, penning a message to Wrexham fans after his arrival on August 9th.

Rathbone joins Lewis Brunt, Dann Scar, Callum Burton, Sebastian Revan, George Dobson, and Arthur Okonkwo at the Racecourse Ground ahead of the 2024/25 League One season.

However, the incomings are not expected to stop there, however, as Parkinson recently confirmed Wrexham are working on a couple more deals ahead of deadline day on August 30th.

One player who has been linked with a move to the Welsh outfit is Sheffield Wednesday forward, Bailey Cadamarteri.

Reports last week claimed Wrexham are front-runners in the race for Cadamarteri but Blackpool, Huddersfield Town, Stockport County, Dundee United, and Motherwell were named as interested parties as well.

Danny Rohl drops Bailey Cadamarteri transfer hint

Cadamarteri missed part of the 2023/24 pre-season while recovering from injury but became a regular feature under Danny Rohl later in the campaign.

The 19-year-old featured 26 times for The Owls last term, scoring six goals and providing one assist.

However, The Star report the centre-forward will be allowed to leave on loan along with a handful of the club’s younger players this month.

Following that update from the Star, they have provided quotes from the Sheffield Wednesday boss regarding player outgoings this month, and it looks to be good news for Wrexham.

He said: “Some clubs are looking for our players.

“It starts now and this is normal. We are in some positions where we are proactive and this is the honest conversations we have had, to give some players a clear picture and schedule for what we want to do.

“We will see who moves, but the big thing – and this was a crucial part in January – I was always very open with them.

“This is sometimes hard for them. Now we have games and games and maybe you have time you are not in the squad or you are just on the bench, but the important thing is they know where they are in the club.”

Wrexham must act quickly to sign Bailey Cadamarteri

With Sheffield Wednesday seemingly giving the green light for Cadamarteri to be sold, Wrexham need to get a deal done as soon as possible.

Paul Mullin is injured and will miss the start of the new season, which sees the Red Dragons face Wycombe Wanderers at 5:30pm BST on August 10th.

Mullin was Wrexham’s top scorer in 2023/24, netting an impressive 25 goals en route to promotion.

Outside of the 29-year-old, however, Parkinson currently has very few quality strikers on his books.

Previous record signing Ollie Palmer scored just eight goals last term, as did an ageing Steven Fletcher.

More concerningly, Jack Marriott has found the net just once in 17 games since he was signed in January 2024.

Wrexham generally opt to play two strikers and need to improve their attacking options if they wish to avoid relegation in the coming season.

Their need to sign another centre-forward has been made even more clear by Mullin’s injury, with the club expected to struggle to score goals until he is back playing.

A deal for Cadamarteri could ease some of the burden on Mullin, however, as the Sheffield Wednesday starlet has already showcased his attacking ability in the Championship.
