JUST NOW: Driver injured in northbound I-5 crash Wednesday

Navarro’s Jeep struck the concrete median, flipped in the air and collided with oncoming traffic, hitting a Pontiac Grand Prix, an Acura RSX, and a Saturn VUE.

The driver of the Pontiac Grand Prix, a 50-year-old man, suffered life threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of of the Acura RSX, Liseth Perez, 19, along with her passenger, sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the Saturn VUE Miguel Sanchez, 18, and three passengers in the car also sustained minor injuries.

All those injured in the accident were taken to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas for treatment.

In an accident on Highway 101 south of Chualar on Monday morning leaving 1 dead and 7 hospitalized, the California Highway Patrol has announced one man is being charged with vehicular manslaughter.

The man charged, Jordan Navarro, 19, was driving a silver Jeep Cherokee southbound on highway 101 and lost control of his vehicle at around 9:30 a.m.
