After breaking  snooker records with a golden ball in Saudi Arabia Ronnie O’Sullivan is eyeing a hefty prize…

The golden ball concept at the upcoming Riyadh Season World Masters of Snooker has Ronnie O’Sullivan curious about its value.

Ronnie O’Sullivan is eyeing a “hefty prize” at Saudi Arabia’s first major snooker tournament, which could see the world’s first-ever 167 break.

The inaugural Riyadh Season World Masters of Snooker will take place in March with seven-time world champion O’Sullivan set to feature in the 10-player field. The tournament will see the introduction of a 23rd golden ball, known as the Riyadh Season ball, which will be worth 20 points, but can only be potted once a maximum break of 147 has been completed.

Snooker is the newest sport to be enticed to the Middle East nation, and while the concept has infuriated snooker purists, the Rocket is captivated by the possibility of breaking 167.

What does a 167 get you? Have they made the announcement? After winning the Masters and World Grand Prix championships in recent weeks, O’Sullivan, who will travel to the Middle East as the clear favorite, stated, “I’m sure that it will be a hefty prize.”

The 48-year-old, who has frequently expressed how much he enjoys playing in China, has no reservations about competing in Saudi Arabia despite the nation’s terrible reputation on human rights and charges of sportsmanship.
