The Day 1 of the third Test between England and West Indies finished on equal terms on Friday, July 26 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. After opting to bat first, West Indies were bundle put for 282 in the first innings with captain Kraigg Brathwaite (61) and Jason Holder (59) scoring half centuries. In reply, England finished the Day on 38/3 with Ollie Pope (6*) and Joe Root (2*) at the crease.

The visitors started the innings with an opening stand of 29 between Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett. However, the duo were sent on their way back to the pavilion on consecutive deliveries by Jayden Seales and Alzarri Joseph (1/10).
