LEEDS UNITED HEAD COACH HAS BEEN FIERD DUE TO…..

After Joe Rodon of Leeds United made a strong tackle in the Whites’ Championship match against Norwich City, Neil Redfearn likened him to Bobby Moore. With a 1-0 victory over the Canaries on Wednesday, January 24, Daniel Farke’s team was able to extend their winning streak to five games across all competitions. Patrick Bamford’s outstanding header in the first half of the match proved to be the difference between the two teams.

The Whites had to fight hard defensively to get the three points, though, as Rodon put on another outstanding performance at the center of the backline. Redfearn even brought up Moore’s tackle on Pele during one of Rodon’s interventions.”That was like the Bobby Moore challenge against Pele, remember that far back in the 1970 World Cup?” he said while appearing on talkSPORT 2 on January 24 at 21:26. Simply stood there and removed it from him. Fantastic play from the large center back.Good companionship to maintainThis season, Rodon has been a revelation in the Leeds United defense. The Welshman contributed significantly to the Whites’ victory on Wednesday night and appears to be getting better every week.

Though it would be a stretch to compare him to Moore—this is only Championship football—the way the Tottenham loanee conducts himself in the defensive third suggests that he might very well be playing in the Premier League.

He consistently recovered possession by sweeping up any threat Norwich made to penetrate behind the defense. It seems nearly impossible for Leeds to concede, much less lose games, when he plays so well.

With Pascal Struijk still out with an injury, Farke should be able to keep the Welsh international healthy and available for the rest of the campaign. This season, Rodon might be a major factor in the Whites’ push for automatic promotion.
