TIGERS TO TAKE ON KASIMPAŞA

Hull City will take on Süper Lig side Kasımpaşa in our first pre-season friendly on Saturday 13 July, kick-off 4pm (UK time).

The match will be played behind closed doors at the TFF Riva Facility, where the Tigers are currently staying for a 10-day warm-weather training camp, having flown out to Istanbul on Wednesday.

City will play another friendly on Thursday 18 July before heading back to East Yorkshire on Saturday 20 July ahead of our first of four domestic warm-up games against Doncaster Rovers.

Kasımpaşa secured an impressive fifth-place finish in their 12th consecutive Süper Lig season but missed out on European qualification due to Beşiktaş winning the Turkish Cup despite finishing above them on head-to-head record.

The fixture will not be available for streaming.

Hull City have begun the process of hijacking a West Bromwich Albion star from Beşiktaş.
West Brom midfielder Okay Yokuşlu is reportedly the subject of an attempted transfer hijack from fellow Championship play-off chasers Hull City.

The Turkey international, recently a three-time appearance maker off the bench at UEFA EURO 2024, looked set to sign for Beşiktaş but there have been complications. The Süper Lig giants had agreed personal terms with Yokuşlu and were in advanced negotiations with West Brom, but the fee was a sticking point

A breakthrough could still be reached with Beşiktaş – and fellow Turkish side Trabzonspor have been in talks – but Yokuşlu’s situation still hasn’t been resolved. Hull, eager to continue their trend of signing Turks, are looking to take advantage.

Turkish publication Sport Digitale reports the Tigers have “started attempts for the transfer of Okay Yokuşlu”. It’s implied that Hull have entered initial discussions with West Brom and the player, though it’s worth stressing nothing advanced has been reported as of yet.

Either way, the defensive midfielder looks set to leave The Hawthorns this summer after an impressive season in the Championship during which he missed just two matches. West Brom would’ve found it very difficult to achieve the top-six finish they did if it wasn’t for Yokuşlu’s efforts at the base of midfield.

Albion’s asking price has been speculated to be around the £5 million mark and the Baggies are unlikely to get in Yokuşlu’s way as the Turk only has 12 months left on his contract. This is the last opportunity to acquire a decent transfer fee, especially as a bidding war could commence.
