1 dead, 1 hospitalized after dirt bike accident in Mayfair

MAYFAIR (WPVI) — A dirt bike rider is dead and another is hospitalized after a crash in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia.

Police say the dirt bike collided with a Chevrolet Tahoe.

Philadelphia police say it was around 1:30 p.m. Monday when residents in the Mayfair community say the dirt bike driver was on the sidewalk and in the roadway

They saw a 19-year-old woman was on the back of the bike riding the pegs.

Keating says he was approaching Cottman Avenue on the 7200 block of Hawthorne Street when the pair slammed right into the front of his Tahoe.

“I didn’t see them until the last minute and I don’t know if I closed my eyes when the impact happened and I slammed my brakes, I just know he wasn’t looking at me, it looked like he was looking back at Cottman Ave and next thing you know, I didn’t see him and she was on the ground in front of me,” Keating said.
