Morphine Love Dion, a contestant on the latest season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, was seriously injured in a fatal car accident on the 10 freeway in Los Angeles’ Jefferson Park area.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 3:19 a.m. when a grey sedan collided with the center divider wall. A minivan carrying other passengers then crashed into the disabled vehicle.
Morphine, who was riding in an Uber, suffered multiple injuries but is “grateful to be alive,” according to a statement on her Instagram Story. Five others were also injured in the accident, and one woman in her twenties tragically lost her life.
