WATCH: 1 dead in crash in southeast Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs police told 11 News crews on scene that what the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) described as a major crash Wednesday was a deadly one

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – All lanes are back open after a two-vehicle crash shut down part of a major roadway during the Monday morning commute.

The vehicles collided on Platte over Powers shortly before 7 a.m. The crash involved a pickup and an SUV, and the wreck left debris and items hauled by one of the vehicles — including a piece of furniture — scattered across the roadway.

Police said based on the drivers’ accounts, the pickup was eastbound on Platte and the SUV was exiting from Powers onto Platte. The driver of the pickup reportedly told officers that they were traveling through a green light, glanced down briefly, and then looked up and saw the other vehicle making a left turn in front of them. The vehicles then collided.

At least one person was reportedly trapped following the crash, but no serious injuries were reported.
