ST. LOUIS (First Alert 4) — Police have investigated three fatal vehicle crashes in three days in the St. Louis area. Two separate accidents occurred early Friday morning and the third was on Wednesday. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, there doesn’t appear to be any similarities between the accidents.
According to the St. Louis Police Department, shortly before 2 a.m., a Dodge Ram pickup traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-64 struck a Honda causing one of the vehicles to hit a Toyota Camry. The driver of the Accord died at the scene and the driver of the pickup was taken to the hospital. Investigators planned to test the pickup driver’s blood to see if alcohol was involved.
About five hours later, police were called to investigate a fatal one-car accident on I-55 at the Lindbergh interchange. The crash is being investigated by the Missouri Highway Patrol.
“We’re trying to figure out exactly what caused the crash. From what we can tell, he made an abrupt lane change northbound 55 onto the exit ramp onto Lindbergh,” said Missouri Highway Patrol Cpl. Dallas Thompson
