Camino 2025; Fund Raising for Inclusion Health

am part of a group of 31 people from AJ Fitness; who will be walking the Camino this year to raise for funds for the Inclusion Health Team in St. James Hospital. We will be walking the last 110KM of the Portuguese Route of the Camino De Santiago Pilgrimage.

Inclusion Health is an innovative approach which aims to address the extreme health inequities associated seen in socially excluded groups through research, policy, advocacy and service provision (Luchenski et al., 2018). As a new discipline of medicine, Inclusion Health works from a needs-based approach to integrated care for individuals from Inclusion Health groups (IHG) including: people experiencing homelessness, members of the Travelling community, people living with severe and enduring mental illness, people who use drugs, refugees and individuals within the criminal justice system.

The money raised will go towards inpatient supports and essentials some examples of this: pajamas, underwear, televisions, books, snacks, essential packs (toothbrush, toothpaste, earplugs, socks). It will also contribute providing payment for medication for people leaving hospital to those who otherwise would be unable to pay; added to this the money raised will contribute to the supply and distribution of Naloxone, which is a life saving medicine used to reverse the effects of opiate overdose which is becoming more prevalent across the country.

We will give updates of our journey across the Camino; any support is welcom
