From the mountains to the sea Janet Lou Parsons Hill began her life in the mountains of West Virginia. She ended her earthly journey in the Outer Banks of North Carolina on November 27, 2024.
Janet grew up with her beloved brother Billy and a string of pets outside of Dunbar, WV. After graduation, she attended business college. Soon after, she spread her earthly wings, moving to Indianapolis, Indiana, with her close friend, Joann. In Indianapolis, she met her future husband Willard (Bill) and began her travels as an Army spouse. They lived in several states, as well as Newfoundland, and had three children along the way. Lifelong friends were made through the years. Janet was always actively involved in church wherever she lived. At Fort McClellan, Alabama, she taught English as a Second Language for over 25 years; she became a personal ambassador to hundreds of foreign-born spouses who relied on her to guide them through everyday life in the US. Janet and Bill eventually moved to North Carolina to be near their only grandchild. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Willard; her son, Ricky; her parents and brother. She is survived by her son, Mark (Susan) Hill, of Weaver, AL; daughter, Susan (Frank) Hiner, of Manteo, NC and granddaughter, Megan Hiner (Erik Alnes), of Jarvisburg, NC.
