Yesterday Evening: Fatal crash partially closes Trans-Canada Highway in West Vancouver, delays ferry sailings
I have often told those passionate Guyanese fans that cricket can be a savage game. You would swear that the only players on any WI team that mean anything, are their country men. This couldn’t be further from the truth.
I have often been accused of being anti-Guyanese which too, could not be further from the truth.
I am hoping this game today has brought those high flying critics , who know themselves, down to ground zero.
Here is my simple analysis:
The difference between the two teams was that England had 1 century maker and three scorers of fifty and over. We in turn, had one century maker but only two scorers of fifty and over.
It is my opinion that Hetmyer had to have done the Livingstone type of innings for WI for which he is quite capable. Let us not accept 24 runs in 11 balls as anything great. He can do better and let us demand more.So he was the missing 50+ score for WI.
Now, to the bowling….Moti went for 70+ and so did Shamar. On the English side , NO bowler conceded 70 runs.
So this was the difference!
I am not going to be as petty as my usual critics, who are all about homegrown talent, by saying all three ‘less than up to standard performers’ were Guyanese.
But the facts are the facts this was the difference between these teams.
After all, all of them touted Hetty as the ultimate finisher but Livingston showed what it is to bat to your full potential and finish the job.
