Water levels at Lake Powell are so low you can find old wrecks out of the water.

I love being on the water and have tried kayaking for the first time this year. I have found it especially enjoyable when you have a beautiful place to kayak like Lake Powell. We rented our kayaks from Lake Powell Paddleboards and Kayaks in Page, Arizona. Unfortunately, many of the boat ramps are closed now due to extremely low lake levels, but we were still able to enjoy kayaking in Wahweap Bay in April.Lake Powell is part of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and is a reservoir on the Colorado River in Arizona and Utah, so you can kayak in both states. Warning that it can get a bit confusing with time zones though since Arizona doesn’t observe Daylight Savings.

With the quickly dropping lake levels, many of the beachy areas were quite muddy, but it was beautiful being out on the water. It was very clear in many places. As you kayak around the lake, you never know what neat coves or beaches you might find to explore. It’s also a popular place for houseboats and other water sports.I was in a double kayak, and we ended up kayaking more than seven miles. It’s definitely much easier having someone else helping you do the work! You can also check out the Glen Canyon Dam, which is the second-highest concrete arch dam in the U.S. And while in Page, don’t miss Horseshoe Bend.I love being on the water and have tried kayaking for the first time this year.
