2 killed following a major accident on the Dauphin Island Bridge; road reopened

: The Dauphin Island Bridge has reopened, according to the Alabama Law Enforcemen News has confirmed that at least two people were killed and multiple injured in a head on collision on the Dauphin Island Bridge.

Dauphin Island Mayor Jeff Collier said some people were taken to the hospital, but he does not know how many individuals were injured.

Collier said he believes one of the vehicles involved was from Mobile County and the other was from out of state.

It is unclear how long the bridge will be closed, according to officials.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Dauphin Island Bridge is closed following a major accident, according to a Facebook post from Dauphin Island Mayor Jeff Collier.

Collier said the bridge is expected to be closed for some time and drivers should avoid travelling in the area.FOX10 News is working to gather more information.
