Police issue update after car flips and hits mother and child in horror smash
Police are appealing for information after a mother and child miraculously escaped serious injury after they were hit by a car that had crashed and flipped onto the pavement. The driver, a woman in her 40s is assisting police with their enquiries.
The terrifying smash happened near a zebra crossing on Warwick Road in Olton, Solihull at around 4pm on Saturday. The mother and child were taken to Heartlands Hospitalfor assessment and thankfully escaped with only minor injuries
The driver of the vehicle suffered cuts and was spoken to at the scene by officers. Anyone with information has been asked to get in touch with the force quoting the log number 2804 of 16 December.
In a statement released today, West Midlands Police said: “We’re investigating after a car rolled over and landed on a pavement next to a woman and a child in Solihull. We were called to the Warwick Road in Olton just after 4pm on Saturday.
“The Peugeot driver, a woman in her 40s, suffered cuts and was spoken to at the scene by officers and is assisting with our enquiries. The woman and the child were left shaken but not physically injured.“Our investigation continues and we have recovered footage showing the collision.” Anyone with information has been asked to get in touch quoting 2804 of 16 Decembe
In the heart-stopping footage shared with BirminghamLive, the vehicle can be seen veering off the road before flipping and rolling towards the mother pushing her child in a pram. Fortunately, the mum’s quick actions to turn the pushchair away saves them from injury.
A shop worker, who raced to help following the collision, told BirminghamLive: “The mum was in shock and her little girl was only aged around two. We think she had a broken leg. It was a terrible crash
