A moped passenger was killed, and the driver was charged after a two-vehicle Gaston County wreck Tuesday afternoon, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Jessica Nicole Rhea, 39, of Dallas, N.C., was identified as the person deceased. The driver, Tyrone James Guiles, 33, of Lincolnton, was charged with felony death by motor vehicle.
The crash happened around 11 a.m. along US-321 near Mile Marker 14.
Troopers say Guiles was driving north on the roadway when he made an “improper lane change” and was struck by a Jeep. Guiles and Rhea were ejected on impact and rushed to Caramount Regional Hospital, where Rhea was pronounced deceased upon arrival, reports stated.
