GASTON, N.C. (WNCN) — A man was found dead at the Roanoke River early Saturday morning, according to the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office.
On Saturday shortly after 7:15 a.m., the sheriff’s office responded to the Gaston Boat Landing in Gaston regarding a single-vehicle wreck with a car that was partially in the water. After arriving and investigating, deputies said they found a 19-year-old man from the Roanoke Rapids area with multiple gunshot wounds at the boat landing at Roanoke Rapids Road. The sheriff’s office is investigating his death as a homicide. Gaston police later identified the victim as Sherrod Ahmad Person.
The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, along with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, is helping the Gaston Police Department with the investigation.
