ESPN: Falcons Star Threatens to Use Taylor Swift to Get Under Travis Kelce’s Skin

When the Atlanta Falcons host the Kansas City Chiefs on “Sunday Night Football” this weekend, things might get a little heated. Especially because one Falcons star has already made it known his plan is to throw Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce off his game, and he intends to use his girlfriend, pop superstar Taylor Swift, to do it.

During a recent appearance on “The Pacman Jones Show,” Falcons safety Jessie Bates III admitted his goal is to get under Kelce’s skin by using Swift’s name. “I don’t listen to much Taylor Swift, but obviously you got to have respect for what she’s done in her career,” Bates III said. “And then with Travis, you got to have some type of respect with him. But once that clock ticks and we’re in between those lines, I see red sometimes and might say some crazy stuff to him. It may involve Taylor, it may not. It’s just part of the game, talking your little smack.”

Swift has attended both of Kelce’s games so far this season, which have both been at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Since Sunday’s matchup is the Chiefs’ first road game of the season, it’s unclear if Swift will be at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in person.

Bates himself has enjoyed plenty of personal success against the Chiefs in his career. He has a 3-2 record against them, including the playoffs, and he was on the Cincinnati Bengals team that defeated KC in the 2021 AFC Championship game to reach the team’s first Super Bowl since 1988. It should also be noted that Bates isn’t the first player to target Swift in the leadup to a game against Kelce’s Chiefs. Prior to their Week 1 matchup in Kansas City, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey took a shot at the All-Pro tight end with his controversial remarks that Swift was solely responsible for the success of his “New Heights” podcast while halfheartedly claiming Kelce took everything from him, referencing the Chiefs’ 17-10 win over Humphrey’s Ravens in the AFC Championship game back in January.

Should Kansas City Chiefs Fans Worry About Rookie Left Tackle Kingsley Suamataia?

Even with Patrick Mahomes leading the charge, the Kansas City Chiefs still need all hands on deck to achieve a three-peat this year. For that to happen, rookie left tackle Kingsley Suamataia needs to level up his game as soon as possible.
