Patrick Mahomes- Facing Backlash From Taylor Swift Fans After Chiefs-Bengals

By the looks of it, Taylor Swift fans have fully embraced Travis Kelce.

Unfortunately for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, that also means facing backlash from the legion of Swifties whenever something negative happens to the superstar tight end. That’s exactly the case on Sunday after the Chiefs’ 26-25 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. While Kansas City survived the thriller, it wasn’t the best of nights for Kelce. In fact, it was a forgettable one as Swift’s boyfriend finished with just one catch for five yards. According to Jarred Koller of KCTV5, it’s the first time since September 2018 that Kelce didn’t record at least three catches in a game, thereby breaking a record streak of 114 games. Some Swift fans appeared to take issue with it and proceeded to blame Mahomes for Kelce’s output. Today marks the first game since September 2018 where Travis Kelce does not record at least 3 catches. It snaps a streak of 114 straight games, the longest streak by any player in NFL history. It dates back to Patrick Mahomes’ second career start.

“COUNT YOUR DAYS PATRICK,” a Swift fan warned. Another Swiftie shared, “This just pissed me off again.”

“I’m mad asfk omg,” a third supporter noted. A Swift follower echoed the same sentiment, saying, “This just made me soooo mad.” “I hate this. I know Travis doesn’t care but I do,” a fan added.

For what it’s worth, Taylor Swift herself was ecstatic to see Kelce and the Chiefs beat the Bengals on Sunday. Having said that, it didn’t seem to bother her that her boyfriend had a bad game. As for Travis, regardless of what he feels about his streak-snapping game, he should find some solace in the fact that he got the support of the Swifties.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is singing Taylor Swift’s praises in a new interview with TIME.

One of the honorees on the TIME100 2024 Most Influential People list, Mahomes, 28, credited Swift, 34, for taking the Chiefs’ fandom global last season amid her relationship with Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce.

“[The Chiefs] went from a nationwide team that was kind of global to a full global worldwide team. That came from Taylor’s fanbase,” Mahomes told the magazine, adding that the Chiefs “just embraced” the added attention when the “Anti-Hero” singer attended games and team parties.

“We like having that visibility,” Mahomes shared. “At the end of the day, football has always been this bruising sport. We want to make it fun, where kids grow up and play football and show their personality and be who they are.”

“This year really magnified that,” the Super Bowl champion explained.
