ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The take-off attempt of a full Alaska Airlines flight ended abruptly Thursday at Nashville International Airport.

According to the airline, one of its Boeing 737 Max 9 planes “aborted takeoff due to a potential traffic conflict on the runway.”

“We’re grateful for the expertise of our pilots who immediately applied the brakes to prevent the incident from escalating,” Alaska said in a statement. “We’re deeply sorry for the concerning experience this created for our guests and crew members. Thankfully, no injuries were reported by our guests or crew members.”

The plane headed to Seattle avoided a Boeing 737-700 operated by Southwest Airlines, which was given clearance to cross the runway by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Alaska Airlines said Air Traffic Control had given its pilots clearance to take to the air.

Alaska Airlines reported the plane’s tires deflated due to the heating action created by the stop.
