SAD NEWS: Larry Bird fansHEAD HEAD COACH ANNOUNCED THAT HE WAS GOING TO,READ MORE……..

Dominique Wilkins is one of the best NBA players of all time and solidified himself as a legend during his days with the Atlanta Hawks, leading them into several rivalry matchups year after year that defined his era of basketball.

His most consistent rivalry was the one he had with Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics, a team he consistently fought with in the Eastern Conference that stood in his way of reaching the NBA Finals year after year, and Wilkins recently had an honest admission about the rivalry

Wilkins recently appeared on All The Smoke and told Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes he and Bird played against each other for 12 or 13 years and never shook hands or spoke to one another, further clarifying “You didn’t want another great player to get that close to you. None of us liked each other.

Wilkins also said that Bird didn’t talk until he retired, and he was surprised when Bird said that he respected him more than any other player he ever played against.

This was high praise, and it’s great to hear that he and Bird are friends in retirement despite being fierce rivals during their playing days.

His point is interesting because this simply isn’t the case with modern rivalries.

All great players are at least cordial with one another and it never feels like great players hate one another like they used to.
