ANN ARBOR – Michigan’s football team was in an unfamiliar position following Saturday’s 31-12 loss to No. 3 Texas.

The prior 23 games at Michigan Stadium, players walked into the postgame press room at Crisler Center — located right next to the Big House – celebrating a victory.  But the 10th-ranked Wolverines had little to celebrate Saturday, falling behind early and failing to match the Longhorns on both sides of the ball in a 31-12 loss.

First-year head coach Sherrone Moore and players were pressed on what went wrong after the program suffered its first regular-season defeat since 2021 and first at home since 2020. Here are notable quotes from Moore and players following Saturday’s drubbing:

“My message to the team was that it’s going to take resolve. We haven’t lost here in a while. We don’t like losing. For us, it’s like you don’t ever want to lose, so you’re never thinking about the loss. But for them and for us, I just think about them. I think about how they feel and what are we going to do to get better? That’s all we’re worried about right now. We’re going to take everything we can on all three phases to get better, and every little piece, and My message to them was we’ve got to do it together. You can’t finger-point, and you find out who you are on the team when adversity strikes.”
